<論説>原文に忠実な魏志倭人伝の解読 : 後漢書の倭国観の誤謬を重点とする研究

Abstract

この論文の目的は、魏略・魏志と共に原始倭人伝研究の根本史料として重視されてきた後漢書倭伝の倭国観が魏志倭人伝の難解と密接な関係にあることを論証し、従来の倭人伝解釈が基本的な点において誤っていることを明らかならしめ、以て原文の文章字句に忠実な新解釈を提供することに存する。まず (一) 後漢書倭伝を以て対馬国以下三十許国を含む大王国家の如く見ていたこと及びその理由を述べ、次に (二) かような倭国観は魏志倭人伝における倭国には妥当しないことを説き、後漢時代の事実としても後漢書の倭国観の正当性が疑わしいことを論じ、また女王国は倭国の異名であることを論述する。進んで (三) 邪馬台国を女王国と見る従来の見解を否定し、従来行なわれた三十許国を含む倭国観と邪馬台国＝女王国説と対馬国以下八国間の行路の連続的読法との三者が「自二女王国一以北」の理解を不可能ならしめていることを指適した後、 (四) 「自二女王国一以北」が不弥国間での六国の地方であることを、行賂記事の解釈殊に戸数道里の「略載」の意味の究明及び倭国形成の法理上より論証し、最後に (五) 倭人伝が難解であった理由の綜合的説明を、主として後漢書の倭国観との対照において行ない、倭人伝が何を以て戸数道里記載の書式とし、何を以て倭国形成の法理としていたかという規範的認識を欠いていたため、後漢書の誤謬を踏襲したことが従来の研究の欠陥であることを説く。

The object of this article is to prove the close relation of the erroneous view on Japan (倭) in Hou-han-shu-wo-ch'uan 後漢書倭伝 to the difficulty of reading correctly the original sentences and phrases of Wei-chih-wo-jên-ch'uan 魏志倭人伝, notwithstanding the former book has been emphasized as a cardinal resource for the study of ancient Japan (倭) beside Wei-lüo 魏略 and Wei-chih 魏志, and to explain the traditional interpretations are wrong in the fundamental points, and then to offer the new interpretation faithful to the original sentences and phrases of the Wo-jên-ch'uan 倭人伝. The most important part of our opinions is the new reading of the words ｢自女王国以北｣, "northern district outside of the Queen State." The weak point of the former study is lack of normal recognition about what form was used by the Wo-jên-ch'uan of writing the number of houses and distances and what legal principle was taken by it of writing the Japan's formation. This ancient Japan (倭) was not a single kingdom, but a federation.
