<論説>周代の土地制度 : とくに新出西周金文を通じて見た

Abstract

新中国において革命後新たに発見された西周時代の青銅器銘文によって現れる、西周時代の土地、人民の恩賜策命によってえられる知識によって、従来の古典と、青銅器銘文とをもととしてつくられた西周時代の土地制度についての通念を反省した。その結果、西周の中央の官僚のうける官職、ならびに辺境の諸侯のうける封土とは、ともに旧君主が死亡すると、新しい君主によって再認される必要があった。これは西欧、フランク封建制におけるフェアファレンと呼ばれる慣行ときわめて類似している。中国古代における土地観念は古代宗教の季節感の影響を強くうけている。新年、あるいは新王によって、新しい秩序が再生するという観念がこの慣行を生み出す原動力であったであろう。

Aquiring knowledge from Ên-szŭ-ts'ê-ming 恩賜策命 of land and people in the Si-chou 西周 era in the inscriptions of bronzes discovered after the revolution in new China, we reconsider the accepted theory on the land system in Si-chou based on the classics and the inscription of bronze already known befor 1949; in consequence, office of the central officials and feud of border and lords in Si-chou proved to be necessary for reas surance of the new king at the death of the old king : this bears a striking resemblance to the custom of Verfahren in the Frankish feudalism in the western Europe. The idea of land in ancient China was strongly affected by the seasonal sense of the ancient religion; the idea that the new order was revived by the new year or the new king may be the motive power in the formation of this custom.
