<論説>楊泉の思想 : 合理主義的自然観の一道標

Abstract

三国・晋の人楊泉は、合理主義的・唯物論的自然観を展開した思想家であった。彼は、自然的世界の始源は「水」であり、「水」に由来する「気」が万物を形成する、という観念のもとに、自然的世界の客観的解釈を提出した。彼においては、自然的世界はすべて「気」の表現形態として把握される。彼はまた、この自然観を人間にも適用することによって、肉体から離れた精神の存在を否定した。さらに彼は、技術について深い関心を示したが、彼の技術観も、その自然観から導かれている。楊泉の思想には、限界・弱点というべき面も存在する。彼が渾天説について、それに従えば斗極が天頂に一致しなくなる、と非難し、また、人の善・悪の行為に対して福・禍が結果するという応報論を肯定していることは、彼における非合理的思想の存在を示している。これらは、彼の思想の合理主義的性格の未成熟にもとづく。楊泉の思想は、中国思想史における自然観の発展のなかで先駆的な座標を占め、かつ、漢・六朝の唯物論的思想の一環をなしている。

Yang-ch'üan 楊泉 in San-kuo 三国 and Chin 晉 period was a philosopher who developed the rationalistic and materialistic view of nature; on the basis of his idea that the origin of natural world is "water" and Ch'i 気 drived from "water" constitutes all things, he offered a objective interpretation of natural world. In his thought natural world all was grasped as a expressive form of Ch'i and also he denied the existence of spirit seperated from body, applying this view of nature to the human being, and again he had a keen interest in technique which was led by his view of nature. Yang-ch'üan's idea has some weak points or limit; it is in his irrational idea, for instance, that he accused Hun-t'ien theory 渾天説 for inconsistence of Tou-chi 斗極 with zenith and affirmed the retribution theory of fortune or misfortune as a result of human deed with good or evil, which is due to immaturity in the rational character of his idea. Yang-ch'üan's thought takes a pioneering co-ordinate in the development of the view of nature in the Chinese history of ideas, and constitutes a link of materialistic idea in the period of Han 漢 and Liu-ch'ao 六朝.
