<論説>惣村の起源とその役割 (上)

Abstract

和泉国の惣村は、十五世紀から十六世紀にかけて、紀州の根来衆・雑賀衆と一揆し、守護細川氏・戦国大名三好氏、さらに織田氏・豊臣氏を相手に、前後およそ百年間にわたって戦うという歴史をもっている。和泉国内の日根郡熊取荘と、大鳥郡若松荘中村の惣村を素材として、およそその百年間にどのような惣村の歴史が展開したかを、土地所有・商品流通・高利貸活動・身分編成を通じて、明らかにしてゆきたい。そして、中世農民が獲得した歴史的成果と、なお克服すべき課題として近世農民が背負った問題を、農民の立場に立って考えてゆきたい。

Sôson 惣村 in the province of Izumi 和泉, in company with Negoroshû 根来衆 and Saika-shû 雑賀衆 of Kishû 紀州, had rebeled against the Hosokawa 細川 clan of Shugo 守護, Miyoshi 三好 clan of Sengoku-daimyô 戦国大名, and also against the Oda 織田 and the Toyotomi 豊臣 clans nearly one hundred years acound. This article explains the historical development of Sôson for about one hundred years, as a researching material of the Sôson in the Kumatori 熊取 manor, Hine 日根 county and Nakamura 中村 in the Wakamatsu 若松 manor, Otori 大鳥 county of the Izumi 和泉 province, through the study of landholdings, circulation of goods, activity of usury, and constitution of ranks; considering on a viewpoint of the peasantry the historical achievement which mediaeval peasants had won and the problems they had to carry on their back as a remained task to overcome.
