<論説>将門の乱と中央貴族

Abstract

平安前期、十世紀中葉にいたって東国の地に反乱が起る。平将門によるものがそれである。この乱がその後の政治過程に与えた影響は決定的とも思われ、「律令国家」の崩壊、武士の発生などの観点から、いままでも分析が加えられている。そして多くの成果を生み出しているが、将門などがきわめて「武士」的な行動をするところから、多くは武士団の問題として追求されており、十世紀の全政治過程の中から必らずしも十分に考察されているとはいいがたい。本稿はそのいくつかの学説を補わんとするために、いままで注意があまり向けられることのなかった中央貴族の対処を通して乱の様相を分析し、ひいては現地の状況をどのようにうけてそれ以後の政治が再編成されていくのかを追求していこうとしたものである。

In the middle of the 10th century, the first half of the Heian 平安 era, the rebellion broke out in the land of the Eastern Country; that of Masakado's 平将門. It may be a decisive effect that this rebellion had on the subsequent political process; and it has been analysed from the view point of the collapse of the Ritsuryo 律令 State and growth of samurai, or warriors, with many fruitful results. Judging from the Masakado's conduct like a warrior, the case has mainly been examined as a problem of a body of warriors, not completely in the whole political process of the 10th century. This article, supplying the deficiency of some theories, is to analyse the aspects of the Rebellion through the disposition of aristocracy in the metropolis, and the way of reorganizing the subsequent policy affected by conditions of the actual place.
