dc.description.abstractHigh schools in declining population areas throughout Japan are being integrated and abolished due to the nation's declining birthrate. On the other hand, Municipalities in declining population areas continue to lose their population. The activation of the town and maintaining the town itself in the future are urgent issues. High schools have a problem of a decline in school activities due to a decrease in the number of students in addition to the survival of the high schools itself. Also, the town has a problem of revitalization and declining population in the town. Both having a common goal of increasing the number of high school students to solve these problems, the town and high schools are working to collaborate to appeal and develop the high school for the nationwide student recruitment. As an example of such a high school, this paper reports Kawane Honcho and Shizuoka Prefectural Kawane High School, which is the only school that conducts a nationwide recruitment in Shizuoka Prefecture. This paper reports about Kawane Honcho, where Kawane High School is located, and how various projects of regional cooperation that Kawane High School has with the common goal of increasing the number of students. First, the changes in the population of Kawane Honcho and the initiatives that Kawane Honcho is mainly conducting are reported. Next, the current situation of Kawane High School and the initiatives mainly taken in Shizuoka Prefecture and Kawane High School are reported. Afterwards, the change in the number of students at Kawane High School and the issues which need to be considered are discussed. Though Kawane High School's fascinating project has continued to increase the number of students from non-locals, there are issues to be addressed, such as revitalizing the town.en
