Abstract

Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood contains scenes based on his short stories "Firefly" and "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman." The comparison of related scenes between Norwegian Wood and these short stories reveals some motifs that seem to be intentionally deleted: the tennis court and others in "Firefly" and the poem of the willow and the image of spring where flies nest in " Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. " These motifs are related to the girl majoring in French literature in Hear the Wind Sing, whose connection with Norwegian Wood seems to be intentionally concealed by Murakami.
