<環境>色彩の心理効果の意味を考える --人と環境の長く深い付き合い

Abstract

Color is a perceptual attribute of light or a surface, but at the same time it has the psychological effect that affects our sensation, such as depth, weight, and temperature. It also gives us various feelings, such as the sense of esthetic harmony, activity and ease. To design suitable color environment, it is required to develop the theory which explains the psychological process underling those effects and connects the data to a practical color design. This article firstly reviews researches on the effect of color on depth perception as a representative example of the psychological effect. Then I propose a framework for considering the effect with referring recent advances in the studies on visual perception and cognitive science. It may also provide a scientific clue to investigate the relations between human and our living environment.
