Abstract

The tablet discussed in this paper is one of the unpublished cuneiform tablets in the Kyoto University Museum. Kyoto University houses sixty cuneiform tablets, which were donated by Oxford University in the early 20th century. Fifty-five of the Sumerian tablets were published by Prof. Nakahara between 1927 and 1928. The cuneiform tablet discussed in this paper records a real estate contract in Akkadian. It indicates that Nahil, son of Iddin-Lagamal, bought a burubalûm plot. The tablet also carries the personal name Apil-Sin, which refers to the fourth king of the First Babylonian Dynasty and grandfather of Hammurabi. This indicates that it was written during his reign (1830-1813 BCE). It is supposed that the tablet is one of the documents of the Ili-amranni family archive at Dilbat.
