認知文法において焦点構造を扱うための枠組みに関する試論

Abstract

本論の目的は、認知文法における談話分析の枠組みとして提案されたアクセス・活性化モデルおよびこのモデルに基づく焦点構造の分析の問題点を踏まえ、より適切に談話および焦点構造を分析する枠組みを提示することである。アクセス・活性化モデルはより実際の言語使用の実態に近い形で言語を分析できる枠組みとして提示されたものであるが、言語による情報伝達を、言語表現に含まれる要素を活性化することと捉えているという問題がある。情報としての価値を持ちうる単位は命題であり、そこに含まれる要素の活性化如何は情報伝達の達成にとっては二次的な要因に過ぎない。本論では、命題としての情報の伝達とそこに含まれる要素の活性化との区分を明確にすることで、より適切に言語による情報伝達の営みを分析するための枠組みを構築し、その事例への適用可能性を探る。

The aim of this paper is to modify the access-and-activation model proposed by Langacker (2012), which was brought up to account for the dynamic aspects of language. The problem the access-and-activation model suffers from is rooted in its premise that information sharing is achieved through activating newly introduced linguistic components in the hearer ' s mind; what matters is managing the activation state of linguistic components of an utterance. However, it is argued that this model cannot offer an adequate explanation on what makes a whole utterance as a proposition informative. This paper proposes a modified version of the access-and-activation model that incorporates the higher dimension of conveying propositions, and introduces "focus frame" and "activation frame" as subclasses of frames of attention. The application of the proposed model is shown by brief analyses of some information-related phenomena such as cleft-sentences.
