dc.description.abstract | The so-called Yixi Tuduan 義煕土斷 was a policy conducted by Liu Yu 劉裕 (later Emperor Wu of the Song dynasty) in the ninth year of the Yixi 義煕 era (AD413), during the last stage of the Eastern Jin dynasty. As a large-scale tuduan, just before the Jin-Song revolution, the policy has previously attracted attention as an important measure related to strengthening the power base of Liu Yu. In this paper, I analyze the state of implementation of the Yixi Tuduan by exploring the contemporary meaning of the term junjun 軍郡 as a clue in analyzing its implementation across a wide area, and I reconsider the political intent behind Liu Yuʼs implementation of this measure through a consideration of its relationship with the Zhouzhen 州鎭, which were directly affected by the arrangement of political districts. I first point out that junjun was a term that represented a Qiao-jun 僑郡 without substantial territory. In addition, since the junjun that appear in the Danyangjun 丹陽郡area can not be identified after the Yixi Tuduan, I analyzed the cause of that absence. In the course of this analysis, I examine in detail the implementation of the Yixi Tuduan in influential areas of Yuzhou 豫州 Dujiang 督將, which is closely related to Danyangjun centering on Yuhu 于湖. As a result of this examination, I reconfirmed that the Qiao-Yuzhou and Qiao-Huainanjun located in the area of Danyangjun were completely invested with substantial territory at this time, and I demonstrated that the Yixi Tuduan can be regarded as a measure to drastically reduce the power of the Yuzhou Zhouzhen on the basis of an analysis of the military authority in the region of Yuzhou Dujiang before and after the policy. Furthermore, in addition to confirming the political intent of Liu Yu, which lay behind the implementation of the Yixi Tuduan whose reorganization would be in a form that restrained the power the Zhouzhen of the old regime, I also clarified that it was a part of the reorganization promoted by Liu Yu from the Easten Jin regime to the Southern dynastyʼs military regime to suppress the power of the Zhouzhen and to strengthen the military capabilities of the center. | en |
