| dc.description.abstract | This paper proposes a "cultural geography of mathematical plates (Sangaku)" based on the previous studies of individual mathematical plates dedicated to shrines. This is an attempt to comprehensively understand the culture of mathematical plates, which played a major role in pre-modern Japanese mathematics, by clarifying the relationships among multiple mathemat- ical plates and the teacher-disciple relationships of those who dedicated them to shrines. We will take up, as an example, the mathematical plates dedicated to Kawashima Shinmei Shrine in Kawashima-cho, Kiruta Shrine in Komono-cho, and Hirohata Shrine in Komono-cho, Mie Prefecture to show the possibility of cultural geography of mathematical plates." | en |
