比較の視点からみた東アジアの民俗学

Abstract

本稿は，一国を単位として語られることの多い民俗学を，東アジアという枠でとらえることの意味を，ドイツ語圏において，ドイツ民俗学がヨーロッパ民族学・文化人類学を称するようになっていったことと比較して考える。民俗学の学際的な特徴として，学の輪郭，学の制度化，アーカイブズや博物館などの存在，在野の研究者による協会，ナショナルな政治との関係性などの点に注目する。考察を通して東アジア民俗学の可能性を展望する。

This paper considers the potential of the study of folklore on the East Asian scale, instead of the national. From a comparative perspective I refer the experience of German folklore studies. German folklore studies has changed its own name from Volkskunde (folklore) to the field of many names, such as European Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology, Empirische Kulturwissenschaft (empirical cultural science), and/or the combinations of these names. Based on the understanding of the character of folklore studies as porous and transdisciplinary, I compare the study of folklore in the East Asian countries on the following aspects : the formation of the field ; the institutionalization of the discipline ; the situation of professional institutions such as university, archives, and museums ; the situation of association activities of laypersons ; and the relationship with the national politics. I aim to explore the potential of East Asian Folklore Studies.
