dc.description.abstract | It is said that Japanese high school students are less motivated to engage with a sense of people outside the school and society, and inquiry-based learning is becoming increasingly important. Although inquiry-based learning in collaboration with local communities is attracting attention mainly in local high schools, it has been shown that its significance is high, and it can be said that it is a necessary learning activity not only for high school students in rural areas but also for all high school students. And to promote such learning, coordination roles for connecting high schools and communities are required. Therefore, this study analyzed the ingenuity and problems seen in advanced cases with the aim of “clarifying the ways of coordination roles which connects high schools and communities in order to promote inquiry-based learning in collaboration with local communities.” As a result, nine categories and 28 concepts of ingenuity and problems were found. The significance of the study is as follows. (1)In addition to simply connecting high schools and communities, we reconsidered the ways of coordination roles by incorporating the viewpoint of “building an organizational system for conducting inquiry-based learning and fostering awareness among teachers.” (2) By focusing on differences in ingenuity and issues between high schools in “urban” and “rural” areas, an ideal way of coordination roles depending on their regional characteristics was presented, and (3) The possibility of making use of the knowledge of service-learning research was indicated. Based on the above results, in order to further promote and enhance inquiry-based learning in collaboration with local communities, it is necessary to rethink what “community” is and create “communities” that should cooperate with high schools. | en |
