Abstract: In this paper, the deformation and strength behaviors of soil under delayed consolidation are investigated through the concept of a state boundary surface, with respect to quasi-overconsolidation characteristics. The mechanism of change in state during delayed consolidation is made clear, considering the restrictive conditions in terms of stress and strain for the K₀-secondary compression. Moreover, a brief discussion on the mechanical properties of soil after delayed consolidation is made, using the result of the K₀-triaxial loading test and undrained shear test for Kaolin.
