Development and Application of a Hierarchical Land-use Model

Abstract

This paper aims to propose a Hierarchical Land-use Model (HILUM), and to present its application to a regional transport network planning. HILUM is composed of two subsidiary models ; the Activity Location Model and the Land-use Model. The total activities in a metropolitan area are allocated in a hierarchical manner using these two models. The basic concept of each subsidiary model has already been presented by the authors. In this paper, we exemplify the application of HILUM to a regional transport network planning in the Osaka Metropolitan Area, as well as the structure of the model.
