Datasets of arboreal hemiparasitic plant specimens (Santalales, Loranthaceae and Santalaceae) collected from Lambir Hills National Park in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo

Abstract

The tropical rainforest of Lambir Hills National Park, located in the northern part of Sarawak State of Malaysia on Borneo Island, is characterized by high diversity and a unique taxonomic composition of canopy plants, such as epiphytes, hemiepiphytes, and arboreal hemiparasites. However, the assessment of plant diversity among these plants is incomplete, particularly for arboreal hemiparasites. To provide basic information for better understanding the diversity of canopy plants in the area, we digitized herbarium specimens of two arboreal hemiparasitic taxa (Loranthaceae and Santalaceae) at The Sarawak Herbarium, Department of Forestry (SAR). In total, 40 specimens for 21 species of Loranthaceae and two specimens for two species of Santalaceae were digitized and databased along with their digitized specimen images. The datasets in Excel format are accessible to anyone requesting Sarawak Herbarium for inquiry.
