京都人文学園の形成と変容 --知識人・労働者による教育空間と社会運動の関係史--

Abstract

本稿の目的は，講義の担い手や教育内容に着目しつつ，京都人文学園の形成と変容の過程を描くことである。同学園を含む「正規の」学校教育システム外に創られた「学校」の多くは，「教育」の変革を志向する思想(=<教育の文脈>) と，運動の担い手の養成などの社会運動の要請(=<運動の文脈>)との交差点上に形成されてきた。また<運動の文脈>は一枚岩ではなく，京都人文学園の場合には，住谷悦治ら労働組合や政党に基盤を置く知識人たち(=<労働・政治運動の文脈>)と，新村猛ら文学・美術評論などの文化批判に基盤を置く知識人たち(=<文化運動の文脈>)の合流と拡散のうえに学園が存続してきた。1946年に創立された京都人文学園は，住谷悦治ら「友山荘」グループと，新村猛ら『世界文化』グループの合流によって，昼間制の各種学校として誕生した。ただし創立直後に住谷悦治らが講義を行うことはなく，昼間制時代の京都人文学園では，新村猛らを中心に人文科学を基盤とした教育活動が展開された。いわば，<労働・政治運動の文脈>と<文化運動の文脈>が乖離し，<文化運動の文脈>に根差した教育活動が展開されたのが学園の昼間制時代であった(1946年10月-1949年3月)。しかし昼間制の学園は財政危機に陥り，夜間制への移行に踏み切ることになる。この移行によって，講師陣に二つの変化が生じた。一つは，新村と久野の就職=退場であり，もう一つは，京都地方労働組合協議会で活動していた知識人(住谷悦治も含まれる)の参入であった。夜間制への移行は，知識人の<運動の文脈>の内実が，<文化運動の文脈>から<労働・政治運動の文脈>へと重心を移していくという変化でもあった(1949年4月-1957年3月)。それでも財政難の克服には至らず，学園は京都勤労者教育協会との合併を決断する。同協会に参加していた知識人は夜間制京都人文学園と重なり合っており，この二度目の転機によっては，<運動の文脈>に大きな変化は生じなかった。(1957年3月)。

The purpose of this paper is to describe the formation and transformation process of the Kyoto Jinbun Gakuen, focusing on its lecturers and educational content. Many of the “schools” created outside the formal schooling system were formed at the intersection of [educational context] (ideas oriented toward the transformation of education) and [movement context] (the training of movement leaders). In the case of the Kyoto Jinbun Gakuen, the school has survived on the confluence and diffusion of intellectuals based on labor unions and political parties, such as the “Yuuzanso” group represented by Etsuji Sumiya ([labor and political movements context]) and those based on cultural criticism, such as the “Sekai Bunka” group represented by Takeshi Shinmura ([cultural movements context]). Kyoto Jinbun Gakuen was founded in 1946 by the merger of the two groups above. Sumiya did not give lectures immediately after the founding of the school, so educational activities based on the humanities were developed, led by Shinmura. (October 1946-March 1949). However, the daytime school was in financial crisis and had to make the transition to a nighttime system. This transition led to the entry of intellectuals who had been active in the Kyoto Labor School (including Sumiya). The shift means a change in the context of the intellectuals' [movement context], shifting from the [cultural movement context] to the [labor and political movement context] (April 1949-March 1957). Still unable to overcome its financial difficulties, the school decided to merge with the Kyoto Workers' Education Association. The merge did not result in a major change in the [context of the movement] (March 1957).
