泰順蛮講の音韻体系

Abstract

Manjiang is the main dialect spoken in Taishun county which belongs to Zhejiang Province. Taishun area is where Min and Wu dialects exist side by side. This paper will introduce the phonological system of Manjiang dialect by analyzing its initials, finals and tones based on field data. The features observed confirms the conclusion that Manjiang belongs to Eastern Min dialects. It also contains features not found in other Eastern Min dialects which considered the resultant of the affection comes from Wu dialects. In this paper, after analyzing initials system and finals system, the discussion will focus on medial (the vowel between initial and principal vowel) “u”. The medials should be treat carefully as they involve with historical phonology of Chinese a great deal. And in tone part, how tones of individual syllable-words change when they combine with each other will also be described.
