<調査報告>日本語初級教科書の新出漢字を含んだ理系専門語

Abstract

本稿では、日本の高等学校で用いられている数学と理科（物理、化学、生物、地学）の教科書の索引に収録されている語彙について、語彙レベル、それらに含まれる漢字の数や漢字レベルについて報告している。原子や分子、イオンなどの粒子に関する語彙が、理科では科目に関係なく収録されていることがわかり、理科を専門とする学生にはこれらの語彙を優先して学習することを提言している。語彙に含まれる漢字は、科目間で比較すると数学では種類は少なく、レベルもやや易しいが、生物や化学は逆に種類は多く、やや難しいことがわかった。また、日本語初級教科書の新出漢字を含む語彙を抽出し分析すると、漢字レベルは若干易しくなる程度であるが、漢字の種類が減少し、初級学習者でも既習の漢字が多く含まれているので、取り掛かりやすい語彙であると指摘している。最後に、これらの結果を活用して、日本語初級教科書の新出漢字ごとに語彙を収録した自習用教材の開発計画について報告している。

This paper reports on the natural science terms and their Kanji characters included in the indexes of mathematics and science (physics, chemistry, biology, and geology) textbooks used in Japanese high schools. Four science subjects contain many technical terms related to atoms, molecules, and ions. Therefore, the author suggests that non-mathematics science students should learn those vocabulary words early on. The report compares the Kanji characters in the vocabulary across subjects. Mathematics has fewer Kanji characters, which are a little easier, while biology and chemistry have more Kanji characters, which are advanced. Words and phrases containing Kanji characters appeared in an elementary Japanese textbook are taken from the terms and analyzed. The result shows that the ratio of easy Kanji slightly increases, the number of Kanji decreases, and the terminology contains many Kanji that even beginner-level learners have already learned. The author points out that those terms are easy to learn for beginners. In conclusion, to utilize these results, the author plans to develop self-study materials containing vocabulary for each new Kanji character in the elementary Japanese textbook.
