Abstract: The melting point of polyethylene has been determined at high pressures up to 30, 000 atm by the volume-discontinuity method and differential thermal analysis. The effect of increasing the pressure up to 5, 000 atm is to reduce the volume of fusion. Suitable values for the parameters of the Simon equation, a and c, have been obtained from the melting curve.
