Dielectric constant and density of cyclohexane-benzene mixtures under high pressure

Abstract

New experimental data on the dielectric constant and the density of cyclohexanebenzene mixtures are presented as functions of temperature, pressure and composition. The dielectric constant has been measured by a frequency counting method with the uncertainty of 0.04% at temperatures from 25℃ to 75℃ and pressures up to 190 MPa. The density measurements have been performed at the same temperature range under pressures up to 100 MPa with an estimated uncertainty of 0.06%, using a new high pressure burette. The isotherms of the dielectric constant and the density increase with increasing pressure and their behavior are represented by some empirical equations. The effect of temperature and pressure on the dielectric constant is found to be expressed by a simple linear function of the density. The molar polarization is discussed as functions of density, tempertaure and composition. An analogy between the Owen-Brinkley equation and the Tait equation is also discussed.
