dc.description.abstract	I examined some of Adrienne Rich's poems in her first two books on the relation between oneself and others in a previous essay. In this paper I discuss the consciousness of estrangement between oneself and others expressed in her third book, Snapshots of A Daugther-in-Law. First, I discuss the background of her life both as a poet and as a mother, which has a great deal to do with her poems themselves. Secondly, I choose three poems and discuss them to illustrate what she thinks to be the appropriate attitude toward others. It is not easy or joyful but lonesome and painful, and she suggests that now we should willingly accept this loneliness so as to keep friendly relations with others.	en
