京都府下におけるリハビリテーションの現状

Abstract

A questionnaire survey conducted on the hospitals and facilities in Kyoto prefecture revealed the necessity of and high interest in rehabilitation therapy, which was provided in most of the hospitals. The treated disease mainly consisted of orthopaedic and cerebral disorders, and the number of patients receiving the therapy was small (≦39%) in many hospitals and facilities. In the majority of these patients the rehabilitation period was less than 6 months. The severely disabled who required more than 5 years of rehabilitation therapy comprised only about 5%. Among the co-medical staff, the rehabilitation program was primarily administered by nurses with only little involvement of other staff members. As a whole, the idea of rehabilitation seemed to be well understood, but in terms of practice, a passive attitude and low awareness of the importance of rehabilitation were observed. More positive efforts toward practice are needed in the future.
