The Sixteen males were separated into two groups, untrained group consisting of 10 healthy subjects (40.5±2.0 Y.O.) and trained group consisting of five triathron enthusiasts (39.0±5.5 Y.O.). The data were analyzed along with standard errors from simple regression formula between oxygen uptake and heart rate during the test of physical work capacity using the Bruce protocol on the treadmill. Each obesity index was formulated from height and body weight. The standard errors were compared between the trained group and untrained group. Obesity indices of the trained group and untrained group were also compared along with the standard errors in each group. The range of standard errors was ±3.1~±8.4 (beatsen
dc.description.abstractminute) in the untrained group, and ±4.0~±8.4 (beatsen
dc.description.abstractminute) in the trained group. No significant differences in standard error were found between the two groups. There was no significant corelation in the obesity indices or standard errors between the two groups. These findings indicate the difficulty in estimating the standard error of target heart rate from analysis of the obesity index and previous sports experience. However, the target heart rate method is still effective for setting each intensity of exercise in the clinical situation, within the standard error.en
