抄録: Students in nurse training usually have their initial clinical experience while still in their youth. On one hand, they learn much from the practice, but on the other hand, they experience varieties of anxieties and agitations. Because they are still in the process of forming their own inner consciousness, experiences during clinical training may cause crises in self-identity in the students. We focus on the initial clinical training in a hospital, and discuss the results from statistical research. The results from the first year investigation, "Effect of initial clinical experiences in a hospital on learning volition" suggest that it is necessary to help students to recognize problems positively, to assist them in coping with these problems and to support them through discussion and consultation because the first impression often greatly affects learning volition. The second year results of investigation, "Study of educational programs for the initial clinical training in a hospital" suggest that it is neccessary to provide students with educational programs to raise their self-motivation as a form of mental support, and to set up an adequate target for training subjects. It is also necessary to prepare a program for students to learn how to establish good and personal nurse-patient relationships in a training environment. The third year results of investigation, "Study of introductory guidance for the initial clinical training in a hospital" showed a remarkable degree of improvement in student satisfaction by giving them introductory guidance. However, we need to carefully consider choosing proper education materials lest students should feel guilty of their own lack of effort. As for further subjects, we should investigate how each student feels in each type of situations during training. It is also necessary to provide students with opportunities to talk with nursing staff when students feel strong anxieties and strain.
