It is important for the formation of social consensus to understand brain death correctly. The transition of opinions regarding brain death and organ transplantation was serially investigated three times in the same 80 nursing students at our college. Nursing students with correct knowledge concerning brain death had a tendency to approve of organ transplantation after brain death. Although the number of students with correct knowledge increased with their academic level, the rate of students approving of organ transplantation after brain death gradually decreased. There was a significant difference between their thoughts regarding brain death and organ transplantation in cases involving themselves and those involving their intimate associates.en
