抄録: | Objective: The purpose of this study was to clarify the knowledge obtained by field training and its problems by evaluating circumstances during field training with which students were satisfied or unsatisfied from the educational perspective. Methods: The subjects were 44 third-year students of our Junior College of Medical Technology who received 2 courses of field training A in adult and geriatric nursing. The students agreed to participate in this study performed between April 4 and July 5, 2002. A questionnaire survey was conducted before and after the field training A in adult and geriatric nursing, and students were asked to freely describe circumstances during the field training with which they were satisfied or unsatisfied as concretely as possible. Methods of analysis: Satisfactory or unsatisfactory circumstances during field training freely described by students were categorized after evaluation base on preliminary categorization by the respective co-workers. The reliability and propriety of this analysis were maintained by repeated conference with co-workers. Results: Concerning communication, the students were satisfied with 10 items but unsatisfied with only 2. Items which the students were satisfied with could be classified into "patients' behavior or words in response to students' actions", "recognition and understanding", and "could practice/act" while those which the students were unsatisfied with were classified into "could not act" and "nursing process". Conclusion: In particular, the dissatisfaction with the nursing process (planning/practice/assessment of nursing), which is one of the training tasks/goals set by instructors, may be a major problem to be solved in the future. |
