助産学教育の行方

Abstract

The significance of the existence of midwife in Japan has been finding in the medical-treatment-ized delivery system. However, with the controversy about male midwife, the work of midwife and the meaning of delivery are drawing the attention of the society. The guide and goal to attain of "the healthy parent and child 21" are presented by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. It is a question whether the goal will be attained throughthe present midwifery education. Then, I regarded the historical problem and the problem of the present midwifery education as questionable, and I treated the present situation of the meaning of the delivery for a woman and the family, and the state of midwife, based on the actual circumstancesin foreign countries. Finally, I stated my views on the future of midwiferyeducation.
