抄録: | Nosocomial infections are becoming more serious problems in our society. A microbiological isolation practice program was first attempted to promote the recognition of infection control, especially methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and to improve student behaviour during nursing service. This program could be enhanced to include the incidence and route of infections and to focus attention on infection control. Lectures and practice are necessary for students to thoroughly understand infection prevention procedures. A questionnaire was used to survey the level of infection control training in 2nd the 3rd grade nursing students. Washing hands was indicated as the major preventative behaviour by students at both levels, but relative to their clinical experience, the percentage of knowledgeable responses by 3rd grade students (77.6%) was greater than that by 2nd grade (45.3%). Attention to infection control was also increased in their part-time job, laboratories, and in daily life. Using mouth wash was noted by 25% of the 3rd grade students in daily life but only 3.9% of the 2nd grade students. Little attention to contaminated uniforms was shown by either grade. Washing hands, using mouth wash and clean uniforms should be taught as basic to preventing the infection. Microbiological practices are effective approaches to motivating the infection control in nursing education system. |
