抄録: Progress in the medical field caused the central issue from "cure" to "care". The medical model focusing primarily on cure is no longer an "all mighty" card. Involvement of specialists in welfare and health care is indispensable for the modern medical field. This change required the creation of new specialities and the education of occupational therapists started in 1963 in Japan. Occupational Therapy (OT) program in our college started in 1982, as the 20 th educational institute in this country. Now, there are 31 institutes and sending approximately 1, 200 graduated in a year, as of 1994. Increase in educational institutes and expansion of demands for OT produced several issues such as quality of education, educators, etc. The status quo of OT education in general is reviewed and several resolutions for our OT program are presented in this paper.
