抄録: | The National Health Services (NHS) in the United Kingdom provides one of the highest-quality maternal-child healthcare service in the world. We visited the United Kingdom from July 24th to August 2nd in 1995, and had an opportunity to see the maternal-child healthcare practice in Greenwich. In the United Kingdom, nurse-midwives take care most of normal pregnant women. The duration of hospital stay for delivery is within two days. Nurse-midwives visit mothers at home and offer nursing cares until 28 days after delivery. The healthcare system called DOMINO takes the responsibility of the continual healthcare offered by a group of nurses. Most of women make decision by themselves about pregnancy, delivery and child rearing, whereas nurses give information and care. This system is unique and is different from Japan. I learned about the continuity of healthcare and the respect for women's decision in British maternal healthcare system. |
