精神障害者をとりまく環境―ノーマライゼーションをめざして―

Abstract

From the characteristic of mental disablements, a public environment, a medical environment, a society and cultural environment, and a living environment, I considered what environment and support are necessary for people with mental disablements. In 100-year history of the Japanese mental health, the first half was a period which people with mental disablements are confined in house, and latter over 40 years were a period of accommodation to have named as a protection. It is these 10 years that groping to live together in the community began. A various problem of an environment which surrounds people with mental disablements, is a barrier of an environment from the viewpoint of living. There is a city planning to lose a barrier of an environment for a physically handicapped person. That is called "barrier-free". For people with mental disablements also, a city planning to lose a mental barrier is necessary. The mental barrier-free city plan isn't to build a special city for people with mental disablements. When we have thoughtfulness and courage to become a assistive device, the mental barrier-free city construction begins. "To be yourself to be able and to be allowed to be yourself among others"
