入学時における助産婦学生の受胎可能期に関する認識調査

Abstract

In an aim to motivate midwife students to study family planning, we required them in the special course of midwifery to write their own conception period and the related knowledge at the time of entrance to the college. The subjects of this investigation were 158 students who had entered the college during on 8-year period who were 21.3 years old on the average and who were not married. 1. Ninety six percent of them correctly defined the menstrual cycle. Of these, students who gave equivocal answers to the cycle generally had significantly poorer remarks than others. 2. The principle of the ovulatory period and that of the conception period were answered correctly by 60% and 40% of the students, respectively. Regarding the conception period, 22% answered that it is only one day. 3. Only 10% gave a nearly right answer as to the conception period in the month. Students other than this 10% failed to answer correctly because they left the changes in the menstrual cycle out of consideration or made mistakes in calculation. The above results suggested that these students were much influenced by the knowledge which had been gained through simplified sex education in their puberty. It is considered essential to supplement their knowledge at each stage of their development.
