第3宮古島台風による家屋の風災害について

Abstract

The Third Miyakojima Typhoon struck Okinawa in September 1968 and brought aboutserious damage to Miyakojirna Isl., which suffered the severest damage by the Second MiyakojimaTyphoon in 1966. It is quite unusual for two intense typhoons to pass over the same region withina few years even in this area of West Pacific. An expedition was made to this area to compare thedamage caused by these two typhoons. Damage to houses were studied statistically and it issuggested that the complicated nature of damage can be clarified if an appropriate number ofhouses are studied as a unit. And concerning the relation between damage rates and maximumpeak gusts, some important data were obtained at a range of about 80 in/sec maximum peak gust.
