Abstract

The paper is concerned with the interaction between structures and ground. The system treatedhere in consists of the elastic homogeneous surface layre with uniform depth to the base extendingover the semi-infinite elastic half space and the cylindrical structure which extents from the basethrough the layer.Emphasis is on the analysis of the vibrational characteristics of the structure, which is influenc-ed by the surrounding material. The results indicate that the rigidity and damping of structureare considerably increased by the ground. Finally model experiments are carried Out to verify thetheoretical results and they show good agreement.
