Abstract

The collection of accurate data on the low.lying basin of lower reaches of YamashinaRiver since 1963 has made it possible to examine the changes in runoff and inundationcharacteristics associated with urbanization.It has been examined by using data observed for research basin in this district thatthe urbanization of drainage basin causes the decrease in rainfall loss and the rapidity inrunoff. As the result, a method of estimation of rainfall loss for the developed hill hasbeen derived by taking account of the decrease in the area of pervious ground surface.And the rapidity in runoff has been considered by the method of runoff analysis by thecharacteristics.By using the results of the above-mentioned analysis, the changes of inundationassociated with urbanization have been considered under the flood condition on TyphoonNo. 13 in 1953. As the result, it has been disclosed that the inun4ation troubles in thisdistrict have become gradually in bad by the urbanization.
