dc.description.abstractIt has been pointed out that the essential part of frost heaving is laid on the mechanismof moisture flow to freezing front of soil. However, the moisture flow depends on variouscontrolling factors such as particle size, suction force, temperature gradient and surcharge.So, systematic experimental research would be required to make clear the relation of thesefactors to heaving. We had constructed newly the instrument and obtained the successfuloperation. From the results of experiment, it was found that the moisture flow hadoptimum heat flux although its value was varied by cooling rate.en
