dc.description.abstractTest data to compare the behaviour of saturated sand under drained triaxial oscillatoryloading conditions with that observed in the static triaxial compression tests are presented.The samples having a relative density of 87% are tested at the amplitude of confiningpressure of 0. 1, 0.2 and 0. 3 kg/cm2. The amplitude of axial pressures is controlled sothat the angle between the normal stress and the resultant oscillating pressure is in accordwith the mobilized internal friction, Fig. 5. It is concluded that the internal friction inthe terms of effective stress of saturated sand under oscillatory loading conditions decreaseswith the increasing value of the amplitude of confining pressure, Fig. 9. The test programalso showed that frequency effects, within the range from 0.5 to 12 cps, are small.en
