dc.description.abstractIn studying the sand transport by wind, the mechanics of motion of sand grains should beestablished. For this, it is necessary to make clear the characteristics of trajectory of sand grains intbe sand transport. The trajectory was photographed with a high speed camera and the films wereanalyzed with a film motion analyzer. In this paper, the motion of sand grains is considered assaltation and then the various characteristics, which are saltation height, distance and others, areexperimentally made clear. The result of experiments is discussed with the theory of the first andthe successive saltation in sand movement in a turbulent stream. It was concluded that the relationbetween the saltation of sand grains both in air and in water can be explained with the theory.en
