dc.description.abstractSynopsisIn this paper, effects of sand mixture on local scour around a circular cylindrical pierare investigated. By making up a simple model for calculating the bed shear stress on theside of the pier and by using the critical shear stress of mixture given by Gessler, thefinal scour depth and grain size distribution curve on the armour coat formed on a stabi-lized bed are calculated. And it is shown that its results are in good agreement with theexperimental results.en
