Abstract

Time variation of the geoelectric potential differences observed along and across the seismicallyactive Yamasaki fault, were discussed in connection with the remarkable earthquake occurrednear by on September 30, 1977.Anomalous features of the diurnal variation and the anomalous increase, of the electric po-tential differences were recognized for the records obtained on the days around the time ofearthquake occurrence. They might be elucidated as the effect of the streaming potential derivedby the underground water injection towards the epicentral region through the dilatancy process.
