Abstract: Typhoon 7818 (IRMA) passed through the East China Sea and the Genkainada, and landedon north of the City of Shimonoseki on Sept. 15th in 1978. At Fukuoka MeteorologicalObservatory, the peak gust 46.0m/sec was observed, which exceeded the exisisting record atthe observatory. In the period of this typhoon passage, the radial pressure profile is fittedwith the Schloemer's equation, and the maxfmum gradient wind speed is estimated as about30m/sec. In the rainband passing over the Izuhara Weather Station, air flow convergence isestimated as 1.1x10-3 sec-1.
