| dc.description.abstract | Three typhoons landed on Japan and spawned 15 Tatsumaki in 1979. One of them, T7912spawned 11 Tatsumaki in two days, which is the largest number in the past. The meteorologicalconditions of T7912 are examined and compared with other typhoons T7916 and T7920, whichspawned less numbers of Tatsumaki. T7912 is found to have more unstable thermal structurein the mid level and the rain band about 200-300 km away from the typhoon center is supposedto be the source of Tatsumaki.The detailed feature of the Tatsumaki which occurred in Nagoya associated with typhoonT7912 is also studied. Variation of the visual funel cloud is shown by photograph and theobserved wind patterns are analyzed. This Tatsumaki is considered to have been spawned ina mesocyclone moving northward in a rain band about 200 km away from the typhoon center. | en |
