抄録: | China is a great country with broad territory and has a long history within which earthquakes fre-quently occurred. In our historical documents there are records of sand boils induced by earthquakes, since about one thousand years ago. After the founding of new China, many disastrous earthquakes haveoccurred, such as the 1966 Xingtai earthquake (M=6.8 and 7.2), the 1975 Haiching earthquake (M=7.3)and the 1976 Tangshan earthquake (M=7.8 and 7.1). In these earthquakes, sand liquefaction occurredover a extensive region of the Fuyang River basin, Hebei Province, the Liao River Basin, Liaonin Prov-ince and Tangshan district, Hebei Province, and brought about serious damage to industrial and civilbuildings, transportion and hydraulic facilities and agricultural installations. Therefore, as in Japan andU. S. A., this problem has been drawn much attention in China and a lot of technicians have undertakena great amount of investigation in this problem. The following topics are to be presented by author fordiscussion: (1) thresholds of sand liquefaction; (2) method for the prediction of sand liquefaction in theChinese Aseismic Building Code; (3) residual pore pressure in saturated sandy soil under cyclic loading;(4) liquefaction failure of saturated sandy soil under cyclic loading; and (5) factor of safety and degreeof liquefaction of soil elements. |
