dc.description.abstractLinear and nonlinear seismic response analyses were performed for the water-soil-revetmentstructureinteraction system so as to investigate the effect of hydrodynamic pressure on the responseof the structure and back-filling soil by the finite element method.Structural responses such as acceleration, velocity and displacement were not affected verymuch by hydrodynamic pressure. In general, the existence of water caused higher stability ofthe structure and less yielding of soil, hydrodynamic pressure, however, yielded large overturningmoment and low safety factor against sliding of the structure compared with those in the case ofwithout water when the system was subjected to strong ground motion.en
