三隅川の洪水災害-洪水氾濫と家屋の被害-

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to investigate relationships between characteristics of riverflooding and damages of houses in flooded districts. The Misumi River was flooded by the heavyrains in July 23, 1983. As the river meanders in mountain area, the estimated flooding dischargewas over some three times of its capacity at the lower reaches of the river.It is well known that number of houses swept away or severely ruined by flooding is relatedto loss of human life. In this paper, the destruction processes of wooden houses by flooding areconfirmed with the eyewitness evidences of the inhabitants. When the depth of flooding is over theceiling of the first floor, the wooden houses can be easily swept away downwards. Thehydraulic force of the simulated current contributes to the occurrence of wooden house swept awayor severely ruined.
