| dc.description.abstract | A large number of landslides were triggered by typhoon rain in 1889 over Totukawaarea, Nara Prefecture, resulting a serious hazard. Their localities are identified exactly basedon the Koaza name in the histrical record on the Nishi-Totsukawa. Landslides larger than4x10 4 m2 in area have been shown on topographic map in 1911(Meiji-44). Topographic featuresof gigantic landslides are still recongnized clearly on the aerial photo in 1953 taken even 65years after the hazard. However, total number 600 of larger landslides in the record isgreater than the probable number 200 which was estimated by frequency-magnitudedistribution of landslides and by photo-interpretation of landslide topography. | en |
