dc.description.abstractMountain streams are characterized by such features as steep slope and a wide rangeof grain sizes. Mechanism of sediment transportation, therefore, are very complex, as seenin the armouring phenomena and in the processes of step-pool morhology.In the present paper, the relation between sediment transport phenomana and processesof step-pool morphology is chosen for consideration. Discussions will be made on the flumedata for flow resistance, sediment discharge and geometric characteristics of bed configurationin the production and destruction processes of step-pool bed system. A mathematical methodfor evaluating the sediment transport and related phenomena is proposed. The resultspredicted with this method are discussed and compared with the data for sediment dischargerates, particle size distributions of transported sediment as well as of bed sediment, and bedvariation.en
