dc.description.abstractThe paper explains the phenomenon that the dynamic moduli of cohesive soilconsolidated anisotropically depend on the strain history, through a series of triaxialvibration tests. The undrained vibratory test with the strain level of l0 4 fornormally consolidated clay indicates that the dynamic rigidity of Ko-consolidatedclays is as high as 1.5 times that of isotropically consolidated ones while thedifference of damping ratio is not so much. The dependency of the dynamicrigidity on the confining stress and the void ratio is also investigated using the testresults. The remarkable difference of the magnitude and the dependency of thedynamic rigidity between the clays consolidated under isotropic and anisotropicstresses can be attributed to the presence of precursive shear strain duringconsolidation.en
